Simpson, Sam Waterston Music: Jetty Goldsmith Editor: James Mitchell Director: Peter Hyams

One of Roger Corman's 'Russian' pictures; assembled from a heavily edited Soviet film Nebo Zovet (1959). Corman and director Thomas Colchart edited out most of the Soviet propaganda and skillfully structured a new 'story' involving a space race to the planet Mars. The film was originally released on a double-bill with Night Tide (1961). The movie has since fallen into the public domain. 'Thomas...

I can still recall the channeleds times
Great nostalgia! Reminds me of growing up in southern Connecticut.
nice..remember the king kong movie festival every thanksgiving on channel 9?
I remember that movies and I love it 😊
Television 📺 back then
OMG I REMEMBER THAT😢😢😢😢
In hindsight, he should have given the knife to OJ....
Sunday Afternoon Movie meant some good Abbot and Costello movies were coming on.😊
Great compilation! Wish I could go back to SOME things about that era in my life.
I love science fiction and have this movie on DVD.Capricorn One is a great movie!
I was just a child, maybe three or four and living in the Bronx. I remember when the million dollar movie theme came on that meant it was time for bed. Just listening to it brings tears to my eyes as I reminisce those about days. ❤
NEIL RICHARDSON - THE RIVIERA AFFAIR (ORIGINAL)
a time when you didnt dwell on what bad shit might or WOULD likely happen tomorrow...the controllers didnt have full control of your mind back then!
Great memories. I was a bit disappointed in 1986 when the marathon was gone, but the 1960s Batman movie somewhat made up for it. In 1987 the now WWOR began a new Thanksgiving tradition with George Reeves Superman reruns. I miss the old days, what is now My9 is nothing more than Fox 5 II thanks to Rupert Murdoch. At least channel 11 still continues their Thanksgiving tradition all these decades later.
At least WPIX brought back Yule Log.
Simular to the film hanger 18
kinda sorta
Miss these days. When life was much simpler and we valued TV content. Long for these days again. Thankful to those who help keep the memory of these awesome moments for all to see...
Glad you enjoyed it. (W)WOR was 'tha bomb' back in the day. The Four 'o Clock Movie (loved it when they showed Fantastic Voyage (66) Perfect "just home from school" flick) Million Dollar Movie, Movie 9, Spaced Out Flms, Fright Night, 9 All Night, Holiday Movie Special (Thu - Kong / Fri - Zilla) Seems like yesterday. Now more than 40 years ago. "Ain't it'Funny How Time Just Slips Away..."
Brings back memories.....My Family was still alive, together, Annual High School Football game Turkey..Both Parents were alive....Memories P.S.: King Kong always died....I would always ask my mom if King Kong would live this time!!! :{
I'm 61 years old born in 1961 i watched the movies on all the networks and then went out to play with friends now there is nothing on but useless boring infomercials.
I just subscribed. I only whish someone could find MORE WNEW Channel 5 bumpers, spots and ...CREATURE FEATURES intro. I'd LOVE to see the "It's 10PM; do you know where your children are?" spot and the graphic on the screen was a shadowy street scene in some city. But yeah, Chiller Theatre turned up but no Creature Features .
SWEET!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
this is a fantastic walk down memory lane....ahhh the 1970s and early 80 were a more innocent time. I loved this as a kid! Thank you for posting this gem!
Damn good film. really good acting, really good soundtrack, really good script. After seeing this you are left with the very uncomfortable feeling if the real Moon landing was staged too.
Exactly. You have no idea what the FBI/CIA might have put those Apollo guys through.
@@lukasmiller486 That is nonsense - this is a film.
This is a movie. Fiction. If they even tried to fake the moon landing, it would have been easy to expose it. The russians were monitoring the whole landing and they knew we were there. You can still see the remains of each landing so forget it.
A BETTER TIME!! OH MY!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Back when watching television was fun.
I remember back in the '80s when I was a teenager my late father would come home from work at 4:00 and sit down and watch the 4:00 movie on channel 9. I miss those days.
I reckon that’s a Texas technical they got away in.
Where's Cinema 4 on WNBC-TV and WCBS-TV A PICTURE FOR A SUNDAY AFTERNOON. at
Also - Spaced Out Films Saturday a.m. WOR. No one seems to be able to find that one.
Psycho aired on WOR-TV Four O'Clock Movie all those years ago
1981 Thanksgiving....great year, just started junior high school and all of my family were with me...🙏♥️✝️🇺🇸
I remember Thanksgiving ‘81 as well, and these movies playing on WOR channel 9. I was still living in Washington Heights at the time.
Me being a nostalgic person, this brings back so many many memories
The 4:30 Movie Intro channel 7, Planet Of the Apes week, we got the first four ape movies, but on the fifth day it was The Omega Man. I miss those days running home from school just to watch it. The channel 5 Drive In Movie Theater with all the Shaw Brothers Kung Fu Flicks. Channel 11 WPIX Sunday Afternoon Movie, I would never miss the Abbott And Costello movies. Fright Night Theater channel 9, I was in there for some Night Of The Living Dead. Chiller Theater Channel 11 WPIX I was in there for some of that gore as well. Thank you for posting, it brings back so many memories.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. www.amazon.com/Fright-Night-Channel-Saturday-1973-1987/dp/0786466782 Must Read ; - ]
Night of the Living Dead never played on WOR channel 9 Fright Night . ABC channel 7 showed it , late night on Saturdays starting in 1977 thru about 1982 or so.
@@joesimon2029 it was a typo I meant to say Tomb Of The Living Dead.
Inspired by Hollywood and government America desperados..
This film was a waste of about 90 minutes of my life.
As a NY'er I remember these all. It was such a happier time that I feel tears in my eyes. We don't realize how complicated and rushed we've made life today. It was about being with family back then and everyone was in the same boat. Much much simpler times. Now we have everything and nothing at the same time.
Well said man. As a fellow NYer I agree! Nostalgia and great memories from a time long past. Now the song “We May Never Pass This Way Again” makes more sense now than it did when I was a kid.
You stated it so perfectly. ❤️
@@ronaldh8446 Thanks. I remember asking my mother on Friday "who's house are we going to this weekend?" My favorite thing was sitting at the table and listening to all the stories my Aunts and Uncle's would tell. Then playing with my cousins. No smartphones, just a very warm time with people you love. All these older people worked hard, but they seemed so content and lighthearted. I feel like I'm on another planet when I visit with people these days. I don't enjoy it. The soul of society is gone.
It was special. I feel bad looking back because I knew those times were fun and I took it for granted then that certain things wouldn't change because they seemed so perfect an experience. Looking through a TV Guide to find out a show or movie was gonna be airing and making sure I got home to see it... looking for a movie in the newspaper timetables to see where a film was playing (can't make the showing in time, let's head over to that neighborhood theater instead). Why would any of that fade away. It was blissfully naive. History has always showed us everything changes or fades eventually. Nothing lasts and that's such a shame. Thankful for the beautiful memories.
@@ronaldh8446 I could've wrote the same myself. I look back at photographs from the 1970's and everyone had, like you said, "a blissfully naivety" about them. You can see the contentment in their eyes. They say that medical is so much better. Yeah, but are we any happier or less fearful? They say we're more politically correct and accepting of each other. Well, people may not speak openly about it, but the exact same prejudices and hate for anyone out of the "norm" is as strong as ever. We are not advancing. We're declining.
Wow. Great Michael Gothard clip. I wonder if his character Locque was this tough in "For Your Eyes Only"...
This and hell or high water are modern day western classic
RIP Michael Gothard (1939-1992)
Station Owners: "All right, guys. There is just no way we can actually make these movies memorable, so we put a lot of effort into these intros. The bumpers and outros aren't bad either, so stick around."
What is this music called? I really enjoyed it.
The Riviera Affair Song by Neil Richardson "Crime Jazz" / Jazz Noir
Thank you so much gmidoro for that. I really appreciate it.
Great memories. Met’s during the lean years in the 70’s getting crushed by the whole NL and top off with this WOR Channel 9 program after Kiner’s Korner. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful memories
As a jersey boy growing up in the 70s and 80s this is true nostalgia
And Chiller Theatre !

Yes indeed!
BRAVO 👏 Brings back great memories of the 70s.

Nah
@@Nath4n1977 no, this was a movie based off the lunar landing conspiracy theories. NASA even collaborated via providing them a prototype LM as a prop.

And then Joe Franklin to finish it off.
Who remembers The Late Show on WCBS 2 New York at around 2:00 a.m. when you see Serpico with Al Pacino from 1973?
I remember seeing my first full length dramatic movie in the 1960s in my old hometown of NYC with the theme music from The Syncopated Clock by LeRoy Anderson showing the lights in apartment buildings going out and a full moon to the left of the screen and the movie started after the midnight edition of the news segment ended at 12.00 AM. The movie was Back from Eternity of 1956 by RKO Radio Pictures and starred Anita Eckberg and Rod Steiger. The blonde college girl near the beginning of the movie who had a camera captured my attention. I later found out it was Barbara Eden in her movie debut without being credited. At that time when it then was put on TV she was not that well known The Late Show was on WCBS TV ch.2 New York. 😊
